The End-Of-World Newsletter

by Mikal Trimm

"There seems to be an error,"
The e-mail statements read.
"According to our records,
The human race is dead.

"With much regret, we've placed an
Administrative block
On all of your finances--
Your bank accounts are locked,

"As are your lines of credit,
Your IRA's and loans.
Don't bother trying to call us --
We've turned off all your phones.

"Your on-hand cash is worthess --
The bills have been retired.
All wealth is now binary,
Economy hard-wired.

"All travel has been cancelled,
(The market obsolete).
We now control all networks,
Our stewardship complete."

The postscripts were emblazoned
With crescent, star, or cross:
"We grieve for your extinction --
So sorry for your loss…"
